Energy feedreserve_buildingpre_winter_support
Yield
1000 g
Ratio
Recommended when
  • The assessment shows that energy stores are insufficient.
  • There is still enough temperature and activity for the colony to collect, process, and store liquid feed.
  • Stores need to be completed before a prolonged period of scarcity.
Avoid when
  • The colony is already clustered and cannot collect liquid feed.
  • There are sufficient stores.
  • Honey supers intended for harvest are in place.
Ingredients
  • g Refined white sugar
  • g Potable water (approximately 333 ml)
Preparation
  1. Heat the water without boiling it.
  2. Remove it from the heat and add the sugar little by little.
  3. Stir until you obtain a homogeneous solution.
  4. If necessary, use very gentle heat without letting the mixture boil or darken.
  5. Let it cool completely before feeding.
Application
Placement
Internal or top feeder.
Initial serving
Adjust the quantity to the lack of stores and to the colony's processing capacity.
Monitoring
Monitor weight or stores, the available space for laying and storage, and signs of robbing.
Frequency
Reassess stores before each refill.
Warnings
  • Do not feed too late, when the bees can no longer process liquid feed.
  • Excessive filling of the combs can reduce the space available for the queen to lay.
